Seventeen Lip Crayon

[[I'd like to point out first that my teeth look incredibly wonky (in the photo above) and they honestly aren't that bad (well.....!!!) I have a chip in one of my teeth and one of my front two teeth slightly overlaps the other! But you can see that! I just thought I'd mention it to clear up that I am aware of how horrible my teeth are!!;)]]
Anywaayyy!! I brought this product a little while ago now and I really do love it!! I have never been brave enough to wear dark and bold lipsticks, in fact until about 9 ish months ago I wasn't really into wearing lipstick or lip gloss at all! I wanted to start wearing it to see if it suited me and this was a nice nude colour that wasn't too 'out there' or anything but it just added a tiny bit of colour to my lips!

It glides onto your lips nicely and it doesn't take too much pressure to get the colour out. As you can tell it isn't the darkest colour and if I'm honest it doesn't really stay on your lips that long. I don't wear a lip primer, which might help, but I just apply it to my lips after my carmex lip balm, and it probably lasts about an hour before it starts to fade. Because it is already a light colour, it appears to have completely come off after not too long.

I am still not too into wearing bright lipsticks, but I do have a orangey/pinky coloured lipstick which doesn't suit my skin tone. However, I often put that lipstick on and then put a bit of this 'crayon' on over the top, and then smudge the two together. This creates a nice neutral colour, but with a slightly more pink colour than just this alone. I love to wear the two together (even though I haven't explained it very well!!!) It lasts ever so slightly longer when I wear the two together but still not for ages! I might have to try a lip primer soon. Any suggestions?!

This product only cost me £4.99, and you can now buy all 4 colours they do in this crayon for £10. It is a lovely starting product for your lips and maybe if I wore it with a primer I would find that it would last longer, which is my only problem with this product really!

Thanks for reading and I love receiving your comments! Also, if you know of any lip primers that you think are worth buying then please let me know!!:)

Review: Topshop Matte Nail Varnish

I've probably had this nail varnish for a year now, and every time I use it I'm not disappointed! I brought two different colour (as you can see above!) One is a light blue and the other is a grey/black. When I brought the second one I thought it was black, and when it came out more grey than black I was a bit disappointed, but I should have read the bottle really, and it has grown on me since!!

The reason for me buying these was because they were quite cheap (for Topshop!), and the fact that they were matte intrigued me! It isn't entirely matte, in that it still has some shine to it, but I think it is a different sort of shine to a normal nail varnish if that makes any sense!! You can tell that it is different to most polishes when it is on your nails basically!!

I use the blue coloured varnish far more than the grey one, but that is because I don't have too much time to paint my nails, so when I do I normally go for something brighter and happy I guess! I have used the grey one a few times though and it looks really nice, but I had a problem when I got the bottle, because the brush didn't have a straight edge. About 1/3 of the bristles in the brush were about twice as long as the others, which obviously wasn't meant to happen. I had to try and cut it with my scissors but I obviously couldn't get a straight line and this is one of the main reasons I don't wear this polish very often. I don't go into town too often so I didn't return the product, I just put up with it!

The consistency of the polish is really nice, and it is easy to apply. I am really bad at painting my nails and always manage to get the polish everywhere, and even I didn't fail too miserably with this polish! The brush is quite thick and wide, but at the same time not too wide, making it a perfect size (in my opinion) to apply nail varnish!

The one criticism I would have for this polish is that it takes an incredibly long time to dry fully. If you wear nail varnish frequently then you will probably know what I mean when I say that a coat of nail polish can be dry, but you can still put dents and marks in it if you aren't careful! After about 2-3 hours I was still having to be extremely cautious not to get too many marks in the polish (which I failed at, miserably!!!)

Topshop isn't one of my favourite shops, in fact I would say that they polishes are one of the only products I have actually brought from there! It is far too expensive for me and the style is a little 'out there' for me. I often don't dare to look in there because the prices scare me to be honest!!;) However, I would highly recommend this polish as it is easy to apply, it is matte and it looks really nice! I painted my nails with this polish on Thursday, and it is now Monday and is still quite in tact! It didn't chip until at least Saturday night/Sunday, which for me is really good! They cost me £6 each and I would highly recommend them.
I just checked the website, and there are 10 matte varnishes on there, which have the same packaging/design as the ones I have, but the 2 colours I have aren't on there. I am liking some of the colours on there though so maybe I will have to treat myself to another one soon?!

Thank you for reading this and any comments/tip are welcome, read and loved!!

Stationery haul

I really love stationery, and I use the excuse of 'going back to school' in order to buy a few stationery bits that I don't necessarily need, but that I couldn't resist!!

I went a bit OTT with folders this year! I have saved some of my lever arches (the few that aren't broken) from last year, so I only needed smaller folders. And yes, one of them has jelly beans on! I really didn't want any completely boring or plain folders and I decided to cover my plain black folder in jelly bean wrapping paper, purely because it looks so much prettier! I have a plain red and a plain purple folder but at least they're in pretty colours!

This is the writing paper I decided to use this year, and I got it (along with most of the things in this haul) from the stationery shop I work at. It tears easily at the side, the paper is a nice quality and it isn't too thick, so it can fit quite easily into my bag for school, .i.e. it's perfect for me!

I saw this at work and I just had to have it! It's a cute little notebook with one of the nicest designs I might have ever seen for a notebook! When I saw it I kept trying to think of an excuse in my head for why I needed to buy it! I finally decided it was 'necessary' to keep track of all the money that I spend, because I swear, the moment I get paid, it disappears in about a week!
You may be thinking I shouldn't spend money on this notebook and other unnecessary stationery items, but with my discount I got it for just under £1 and I get most things really cheap!! How could I say no?!

This is a 'to-do' list, and I was actually trying to find one of these last year, but gave up and just made lists all around my room! It is really useful and it also has a magnet on the back if you were to want to put it on your fridge or somewhere similar! I normally buy pretty things and then never use them, but I have actually been using this quite a lot and I am pleased I got it!

I got this about 3 months ago, because it was pretty and it is really thin. I have gone off it now though, and I don't really like it! I use it all the time for school, but I don't love the design and I wish I had got a different one if I'm honest!

I write a lot of q-cards for revision, and it just makes revision so much more appealing if it's in colour!!!! (In my opinion of course!!) Last year I had some thin felt tips, but I have quite small handwriting and you either had to write really big to read it, or it would not be eligible!! I saw these and thought they would be perfect, which they are, and I now use them almost daily!!

This isn't particularly exciting but I thought I'd just show you the q-cards I use! I get through sooo many of these, and there were green cards as well, but I've already used all of them!! You can write on both sides of these ones and I wouldn't be without them!!

This might be my favourite purchase! It is a 2015 diary and it is so cute!! I fell in love with it when I saw it and I still love it now! It is really small and thin so it will fit easily in my bag and it takes up next to no room on my desk! The fact that it is really pretty just made me want to buy it and I got it for really cheap (again;) ).

This is slightly different from the other things I have brought. I don't really 'draw' because I'm not particularly good at it, but I find it quite relaxing sometimes just to do sketches of characters or people or whatever really. I haven't had much time to actually use these yet because I have been overloaded with school work, but the few times I have used them they have been really good. I am still getting used to them but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon enough!! ;)

Finally, I have this superdry pencil case/ make up bag. My friend actually got me this for my birthday, but I thought I'd include it anyway! The colours are really nice and I really love it. I haven't used it as a pencil case yet (I don't know if I will) because the zip is only across the very top part, and doesn't go around to the sides, therefore limiting your access to the inside of the pencil case! I don't know if that made any sense, but basically it doesn't open as much as I would like and my pencil case it always full to the brim anyway, so I'm not sure if it would fit everything in!
I use it as a makeup bag at the moment though, and I really love it because it is just big enough to fit my brushes in!

Thanks for reading and I love reading your comments! Always happy to follow for follow as well:)

Review: Carmex lip balm

I use this lip balm daily and I am slightly obsessed! I have 3 tubs of it because it just works so well and is really cheap!! I got mine for £1 in 'bodycare' even though it is sold for about £4-£5 in boots and other places.

When you apply it, it takes a moment to sink in and it kind of feels like it is just sitting on your lips for about a minute, which is probably the only thing I don't like about this product! It moisturises your lips and lasts for quite a while before needing to reapply. What really excites me about this is that when you apply it, your lips start to very subtly tingle, which to me shows its working!!
I put this on at the very beginning of putting my makeup on, so by the time I come to put on any lip gloss or lipstick, my lips are fully moisturised and soft, and there isn't much of it left just sitting on my lips, making it perfect to apply lipstick.

It is quite a small tub but you can get it in the form of a squeezy tube. That isn't an official word I don't think but never mind!!;) I brought one tub originally and it last me about 4-5 months of me using it almost daily. I have one in my everyday bag, one with my makeup and one in my apron at work (so I never forget it!!)

I also think that its quite pretty and visually appealing, which really sells a product for me!! This is in a cherry flavour but I think they might do another flavour now, I'm not really sure! I really hate cherry flavoured things if I'm honest!! I love cherries themselves, but anything flavoured or scented cherry is a no-no for me! However, this product doesn't taste or smell like cherries to me, though it does have a very very faint scent.

Overall this is my favourite lip balm that I have ever used and that is probably because it really does work. Anyone who I have introduced it to loves it and always ask for more!!;) So if you don't want people always taking it then be warned! And for such a bargain why would you not?!!

Thanks for reading, and as usual, any comments, tips or suggestions are read and appreciated:) xxx

Advice collumn

Hi guys! This is going to be a slightly different post. I am in year 13 (last year before university) and I have started participating in the school newspaper/magazine thing. I kind of have a role in running it as well, but we have decided to give a page to advice articles.

I have already wrote a few, but I just thought that this blog could be a good opportunity to see if anyone out there reading this wanted some advice on anything at all really?!

My expectations are honestly that no-one will reply to this, but giving advice is one thing I am kind of good at and if you did happen to want some advice or comfort on anything then you can send me an email or leave a comment below. I'm the kind of person that is really good at solving other people's problems, but crap at solving my own!! If you didn't want me to publish it in the magazine then that would be fine :)

Thanks for reading this:) Feel free to send me an email xxx

Review: Cath Kidston shower and bath gel

I received this for my birthday from my friend and they look so pretty don't they?! Anyway!! The three different 'scents' are 'Bluebell and Jasmine', 'Rose and Peony' and 'Lime and Mint'.

So far, I have only used the 'Lime and Mint' one (the green one) and it smells really nice. The liquid/gel itself is really runny and not too thick which I don't love about the product. The bottles aren't huge but are quite a nice size. Having said that, the one I am using at the moment hasn't lasted me a very long, time and it is almost empty. I think this could be because I use quite a lot because the formula is very thin.

The smell is really amazing because it isn't too powerful and overwhelming, but still smells pretty and kind of like flowers! Once I have finished the one I'm using right now, I will definitely use one of the others and not use a different shower gel I have stored from previous birthdays or Christmases!!

Thanks for reading and any comments/tips/followers are always welcome:) xxx

LUSH Space Girl bath bomb

This is my favourite bath bomb to date! It is so pretty when you put it in the water, and the red really comes out making the water a deep red colour. It eventually turns a really beautiful colour that I would describe as between lilac and violet. The thing that really stood out for me with this bath bomb was that the smell wasn't overwhelming. It was quite a sweet smell, but previous bath bombs I have had smelt very strong and it kind of put me off some of them because they came across as too sickly in a way!! This leave a very subtle scent which I really loved! It also left my skin feeling amazingly soft and smelling quite nice. I can't really describe the smell, a little bit sweet I guess?!!
Not the best description in the world right there ;) but I will definitely be buying this one again and I think it was relatively cheap!

Thanks for reading, comments, tips and followers are always welcome:) xxx

Review: L'oreal Paris True Match Foundation

This foundation isn't one of my favourites that I have ever had or used. It is quite thick, which is good for a heavy coverage, but I think it makes you look quite fake, and you can't really blend it. It kind of looks like it is just sitting on your face, in a bad way!! If you understand what I mean ;)!! It also comes out very orangey, making it hard to prevent the 'foundation line', where your foundation stops and it is just your skin. I have the 'Rose Vanilla' colour, which could be the problem as I am very pale and I don't think this quite matched my skin tone.
I have seen a review where someone said they loved it though? My friend had the same foundation, and agreed with me that it was too thick and very orangey, which I don't think looks particularly 'good' or nice. It is £9.99 in boots so is an average price for the high street but I wouldn't advice this foundation personally.

Thanks for reading and feel free to comment or leave a tip for me:) xxx

Giving blood

I went to give blood at my local sports centre earlier today. I've always wanted to do it but you have to be 17 years old and I have only just turned 17! You register online and just confirm it when you arrive. They give you some leaflets to read about the procedure and you drink a pint of water whilst you wait for a nurse to look at you. Then they ask you loads of questions about your health, whether you have been abroad etc.

After this they prick your finger and test the blood to test your iron levels by dropping it in some form of liquid thing (I don't know what it was!!). If you have sufficient iron levels in your blood then it will sink (which mine did) and if not then it will stay at the top and I think you have to contact your doctor.

Next you wait for about 10 minutes and then you're taken to the chair/bed things that they take your blood from.

This is where I had problems!! I have extremely small veins, which I discovered when I had to have a blood test a few years back. The first nurse couldn't find any veins in my arms and got another nurse, who managed to find a small one. Mine took a lot longer than most peoples because they had to put the needle in and keep moving it because they couldn't find enough blood! The actual blood taking only took about 20 minutes for me, most people around me took around 10 ish minutes!
In the end they couldn't get enough blood from me and they had to stop trying to get my blood flow going.

They plastered me up and told me it would be best to come back in around 2 years to see if my veins would grow. I'm going to be honest and say that I felt gutted. I don't really know why, maybe it's because my dad gives blood and I've always loved the idea of being able to help people unknowingly and in a way that doesn't cause my any real form of discomfort.

I saw about 5 or 6 nurses in total (which sounds a lot but they all do different things!!) and they were honestly all so, so nice and they talk you through anything you are unsure of!

I wrote this half just because it is something different to write about, but also because I would encourage anyone to go and donate if you can. There is obviously no pressure but even just considering it a good thing to do?! You do have to be 17 and the problem I had is very uncommon I think. The nurses are lovely and are happy to answer any of your questions at all! The only pain is the finger prick, which is literally the smallest pain you can imagine, in fact I'm not entirely sure I would consider it a pain! The other thing is obviously the needle which hurt more than previous blood tests or injections for me, but mainly because she had to keep wiggling the needle around to find a blood supply!! If you are fine with injections then this isn't any different and you can always take someone along with you!!

This is obviously a very different post to my previous blogs, but I just through I'd share it with you and don't hold back from doing it if you want to! Even if you just want more information then you can go onto their website and have a look!! xxx

Favourite films

I have focused my blog so far (what little there is of it;)!!!) on makeup, which don't get me wrong, because I really love makeup, is good but I wouldn't be able to sustain a regular amount of blogs on makeup. The problem is that I don't have massive amounts of make-up (in comparison to other beauty bloggers) so I don't want to do loaaads about make-up now, and then come to write something in a few months and be stuck with nothing to write!
I'm going to venture out of what I am comfortable with today and talk about my favourite films!! I have no idea why I have chosen to do this if I'm completely honest but I figured that I have to start somewhere with doing something different!! These aren't in any particular order, but I think it's fair to say I love them all!!
Okay, so this first one I'm pretty sure everyone will have heard of, and if not then have you been living under a rock?!! 'Frozen' is one of those films that I can just watch over and over again and not get bored! I am a huge lover of Disney films in general so you can imagine my excitement when this came out! I don't care how old I am, Frozen is an amazing film!!!

'Great Gatsby' is such a lovely film! It is set in 1920's America and the way the film has been done, you really feel like you are in the 20's!! I studied this for English literature last year and I would strongly advice reading the book as well, which I would argue is better than the film!! And it has to be mentioned, it has Leonardo DiCaprio in it. Any film with Leonardo Dicaprio in it is going to be a good film!!

Harry Potter. I just love all the films!! I don't know if its just me, but every summer I feel the need to watch every Harry Potter film within about a week!! I always get really sad towards the end though ,because I'm just a muggle and I will never be able to do magic!! *cries in corner*

If you are ever feeling down or sad, then this is the film to watch! 'Mean Girls' has to be one of my favourites and like Frozen, I can watch it over and over and over again without getting bored!! It makes me literally laugh out loud and I think its going to be one of those classics that I'll still be watching when I'm 50!!

I have only watched 1, 2 and 3 of 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and I really need to watch the 4th but the first 3 are hilarious! I really love them all and Jack Sparrow has to be one of my favourite characters of all time because he is just so darn funny!! I think there is a 5th film coming out in 2017 which is super exciting!!

I have literally watched this film too many times!! I love the idea of the film being based around acapella and it is such an upbeat film. I would almost say its the high school for teenagers and older!! ;) It also makes me wish that I could sing, and for a few seconds each time I watch this, I'm like "yeah, I can do it", at which point I remember my huge inability to actually sing in tune!!!;) If you haven't watch this then I think you need to and you really won't regret it!!

I still remember seeing this in the cinema and being stunned at how much I loved it. The books are amazing as well, but if I'm honest I don't really get the last book. Some parts are a bit confusing in my head but this film is worth watching!! I own the second film as well but for some reason, I have only watched it once! Not entirely sure why I haven't watched it more than once because that film is also incredible!!
I really want to watch it now but I haven't got time!! :( maybe another night!! ;)

Last but not least is 'Wild Target'. For some reason, most people don't seemed to have heard of this film. I'm going to be honest and say I brought this film from the charity shop I volunteer at for £2, purely because it had Rupert Grint it!! I love love love this film sooo much and it was said to be a huge 'flop', but I literally went through a stage of watching this film about twice a week!! (a bit sad, I know!!!)  I sure this film is really cheap to buy if you did want to because everyone says it was bad, but it is honestly one of my top 5 films of all time :)

This has gone on longer than I meant it to!! Anyway, thanks for reading and as usual comments or tips are welcome :) I don't know if you liked this kind of thing or not but I thought that I might as well try something different!!
